Prairieorigins.art was not conceived but rather evolved from my art. The style, means, and methods with which I create my art has been referred to as “Earth Art”. I thought it seemed fitting.

The Tag Line: Prairie Origins - Earth Art - Inspired & Derived from Nature

I strive to create my art from nature and about nature, primarily from the hills and prairies of Kansas. I spend countless hours gathering limestone for sculpting; clay and sand for pottery, plants, flowers, grasses and fungi for paint pigments. I am fortunate enough to harvest timber from my farm for firing pottery and making stains for paint. I create countless wood pieces from walnut, locust, cedar and Bois D’arc ( aka: Osage orange, hedge ), which include replicas of our native peoples, bows and arrows.

The organic process is what makes my art so unique. My art mimics, in many ways, ancient and primitive living. Creating in this way brings me closer to nature and my art. The energy of the earth is positive. I strive to harness that energy in hopes that it will be reflected in my work.
